Our regional newspaper, The News Journal, made an interesting proposal to the readers.
The pandemic is still showing no signs of ending, though almost a year has passed since the first case in Delaware was reported The newspaper plans to publish readers’ stories which may send messages of hope to neighbors. So, it is asking the readers to submit their stories.
People continue to die of COVID-19, have lost their jobs, and have to take care of their children at home because of closed schools. In a word, our daily lives became chaotic, but we have to adjust ourselves to the abnormal. The News Journal says that it is waiting for the stories to give comfort and hope to other neighbors who may have been struggling through the situation day by day.
The proposal which asks for stories, like about what you have learned or felt anew for the past year, to share with other Delaware neighbors seems to be very interesting to me.
Indeed, all the people who live today had to go through a traumatic new experience in the past year. This new experience is still progressing and nobody knows when it will end.
Under difficult circumstances like this, there are certainly people who always care and think about others, simply because it is a world where people live.
“Woori Center” is a group of such people. It has been trying to promote the rights and interests of the minorities, including Asians and Korean Americans, in Philadelphia and its vicinity, to help build mutual understanding between generations, to serve society, and to live in harmony.
In celebration of the Korean traditional holiday, “Seol-nal (New Year’s Day),” the “Woori Center” will hold a healing concert to send comfort and hope through Korean traditional music and songs to neighbors who may be exhausted by COVID-19.
Inspired by the interesting proposal by the regional newspaper, I’ve decided to let as many people as possible, know about the healing concert by the “Woori Center” with hopes that even one more person may participate in the concert because of my effort.
First of all, I’ll tell the customers of my cleaners, who are my closest neighbors, about it and my wife will recommend teachers and students at the Delaware Korean School to participate in it.
Those who read this and become interested in the concert may click the link below and RSVP, call the number 267-270-9466, or send an e-mail to [email protected]. Then, the center will send you ZOOM link.
As Dr. Min-sun Lee, a psychologist, will talk about the psychological difficulties which people may suffer from under the COVID-19 environment, I’m also making a proposal to you.
I cordially invite you to a healing concert which “Woori Center” will hold in celebration of New Year’s Day.
